Pratikraman, Karma Destruction, and Soul Power – The Role of Param Prakash and Atma Swaroop

Introduction

The question often arises in spiritual practice: Does asking for forgiveness continuously (Pratikraman) destroy sins (vikarma)? Does it increase the power of the soul?

Bapuji explains that this is a word from  especially Jain philosophy and teachings of Dada Bhagwan, emphasize repeatedly asking forgiveness for mistakes committed through mind, speech, or actions. However, deeper spiritual knowledge suggests that forgiveness alone provides temporary relief, while true destruction of karmic record requires awakening of soul power through Param Prakash (Supreme Light).

What is Pratikraman?

Pratikraman is commonly understood as the process of asking forgiveness for past mistakes.

It is taught that:

• Humans make mistakes at every step.

• Therefore, at every step we should ask forgiveness.

• If a negative thought arises about someone, we should internally apologize.

• If any karma was formed through thoughts, words, or actions, we should ask forgiveness.

According to Jain philosophy and teachings of Dada Bhagwan, Pratikraman should be done repeatedly.

Thus, Pratikraman is a process of:

• Accepting mistakes

• Asking forgiveness

• Attempting to purify intentions

• Reducing negative karmic reactions

However, an important spiritual question arises:

Does repeatedly asking forgiveness give power to the soul? Limitation of Pratikraman

Bapuji explains that asking forgiveness gives temporary mental relief, but does not necessarily give spiritual power to the soul. Even if Someone forgives you or you apologize sincerely or Others bless you. Still, the karmic record stored in the soul does not automatically disappear.

Example given By bapuji: If someone commits a serious wrongdoing and later apologizes, forgiveness alone does not automatically increase the power of the soul. Why? Because karmic impressions are deeply recorded in the subtle structure of the soul.

Concept of Karma Record in the Soul

According to Bapuji The soul carries accumulated karmic records of many births (Sanchit karma)

These karmic records are stored in: causal body, subtle body, supreme causal body

It is explained that many souls currently on Earth are extremely ancient and carry karmic records spanning immense time cycles in multiple galaxy and universe Reference is made to souls coming from higher cosmic regions long ago and accumulating karmic impressions over vast durations. The soul stores impressions (sanskar) across many births, and these impressions influence actions automatically due to karmic bondage.

Thus: Even if a person does not wish to perform negative action, karmic impressions may still influence behaviour. Therefore, karmic bondage cannot be removed only through verbal apology.

Why Forgiveness Alone Cannot Destroy Karma

According to the Bapuji If forgiveness alone destroyed karma completely, then continuous apology would immediately liberate the soul. However karmic impressions remain recorded, karmic tendencies continueand reactions continue in future. Forgiveness helps reduce emotional burden but does not fully erase karmic recording. Therefore, deeper spiritual process is required.

Requirement of Param Prakash (Supreme Light)

To destroy deep karmic record, the soul requires connection with Param Prakash (Supreme Light). Supreme divine light or supreme spiritual energy that purifies karmic impressions. Only when the soul receives Param Prakash, the recorded sins begin to dissolve gradually. Without spiritual light, karmic record remains stored in subtle layers of the soul. connection with Supreme consciousness removes deep karmic layers.

Meaning of Pure Soul and Supreme Soul

A question arises: What is a pure soul? Bapuji clarifies: A pure soul is not merely a morally good person. A pure soul is one in which: Supreme light is active. Supreme soul refers to the highest level of spiritual purity associated with ultimate divine light.

Example reference given: Nirakar Shiva (formless Shiva) or Mahashiv represents highest level of pure spiritual light. Pure soul refers to original state of soul before karmic coverings.

Importance of Self-Realization (Atma Swaroop)

A key teaching emphasized that Before connecting to Supreme power, one must know the self. Many people ask forgiveness but do not know: Who am I? Bapuji repeatedly says First know yourself as Atma Swaroop (soul form). Without self-realization: God appears distant. When one realizes: "I am soul, not body" Then connection with Supreme power becomes possible.

Connection with Almighty Authority – Powerhouse of Soul

The discourse compares Supreme source with a powerhouse. Just as electricity flows when connected to power source, similarly: Soul receives power when connected with Supreme authority. Through this connection Param Prakash(supreme divine light) enters the soul. Gradually then karmic records begin to dissolve. Soul progresses towards karmateet state (state beyond karma).

Gradual Destruction of Karma

Karmic purification is gradual. Through spiritual effort: karmic impressions reduce, soul becomes lighter, spiritual awareness increases, soul moves toward freedom from karmic bondage. This gradual purification process leads towards liberation.

Role of Param Shanti Vibration

Bapuji emphasizes spreading vibration of Param Shanti (supreme peace). Param Shanti vibration helps: stabilize mind, purify consciousness, create spiritual environment, support karmic purification. By spreading Param Shanti: collective spiritual benefit occurs.
