Meaning of Forgiveness (Kshama) – Foundation of Soul Evolution

Forgiveness means pardoning someone for mistakes, sins, or wrongdoing. However, according to spiritual knowledge, forgiveness is not merely a moral behavior but a deep spiritual power of the soul.

There are two dimensions:

  1. Seeking forgiveness

  2. Giving forgiveness

A soul who realizes its mistake and seeks forgiveness is already elevated soul/ Great soul. But the soul who forgives even grave sins is considered even greater, because forgiveness requires immense soul strength (atma shakti) developed through many births of meditation and ascetic discipline. Many people forgive small mistakes, but forgiving grave actions such as murder of a loved one is extremely rare. When forgiveness is absent, revenge cycles continue for generations, creating karmic chains that bind families and souls into long-term suffering.

According to Behad ka Gyan, revenge creates a continuing karmic loop, causing souls to repeatedly encounter each other in multiple births.

Revenge vs Forgiveness Across Generations- Cycle of Karmic Bondage

If revenge continues across generations, the entire clan remains trapped in suffering. Curses affecting entire families are described as powerful spiritual consequences given only by highly evolved sages. Most people forgive small mistakes, but very few forgive major crimes. Society often labels a forgiving person as weak, cowardly, or incapable, but this perception is incorrect. There are rare souls who forgive even the gravest sins.

If revenge mentality continues, souls remain trapped in karmic cycles. A soul that dies with anger and revenge intention may:

  • remain in disturbed subtle states

  • become negative energy influenced soul

  • continue karmic conflicts in future births

  • remain stuck in cycle of birth and death (8.4 million species concept in Hindu philosophy)

Negative souls may continue seeking revenge even after death, remaining disturbed in subtle dimensions.

Why Only Great Souls Can Forgive Big Sins

A knowledgeable soul understands: Whatever happened is result of karmic bondage. Therefore such soul chooses forgiveness instead of revenge. Forgiveness breaks karmic chain and reduces future suffering.

Forgiving major wrongdoing requires immense spiritual strength. Such souls have:

  • performed intense meditation

  • practiced ascetic discipline across many births

  • developed deep understanding of karma

Worship of Higher vs Lower Consciousness

Most people worship divine beings like Ram. A small percentage worship negative figures such as Ravan. Souls with negative tendencies struggle to forgive. Great souls forgive without concern for social judgment.

Benefits of forgiveness: peace of mind, soul peace stage, blessings from others, spiritual elevation

Forgiveness and Release from Karmic Bondage

Forgiveness dissolves karmic bondage. The forgiven person may repent sincerely and gradually purify past sins. Repentance requires action, not just regret. Examples of repentance actions:

  • helping others

  • compensation

  • positive deeds

  • self transformation

Forgiveness can also increase mutual love over time. Historical examples show family conflicts transforming through forgiveness. Forgiveness strengthens virtues and awakens deeper spiritual truth.

Development of Virtues Through Forgiveness

Forgiveness leads to development of virtues such as:

  1. tolerance

  2. patience

  3. compassion

  4. silence power

  5. accommodation power

When one virtue develops, others follow naturally. The soul moves toward self-realization and higher spiritual knowledge.

Role of Causal Body and Subtle Impressions

Human perception of others depends on impressions stored in the causal body. According to Bapuji's knowledge: All interactions between souls are influenced by recordings stored in: causal body , subtle body

And soul memory. When meeting someone:

  • past karmic impressions activate

  • feelings of attraction or dislike arise instantly

These impressions influence relationships and forgiveness decisions. Everything is recorded in the soul.

The causal body transfers impressions to the intellect instantly.  Forgiveness requires conscious effort to override negative karmic impressions.

Influence of Subtle World Souls

Souls from subtle realms guide humans through spiritual rays/ Inspiration when soul sincerely wishes to forgive. Ancestors and subtle beings assist decision making regarding forgiveness. Forgiveness decisions rarely occur instantly. Only rare souls decide immediately.

Conditional vs True Forgiveness

Some forgive due to helplessness, expectation of benefit, fear or on social pressure. But the highest soul forgives without expectation. Such forgiveness develops spiritual strength and introspection. Rare souls forgive purely from compassion and spiritual understanding

Role of Spiritual Knowledge in Motivation

True motivation requires spiritual knowledge. Modern motivational teachings often focus only on worldly success. True motivation includes inspiration for divine and superior deeds. Superior deeds are understood through spiritual knowledge. Knowledge gradually develops virtues.

Forgiveness purifies: mind, intellect and emotional nature Forgiveness generates compassion and love. True forgiveness requires emotional purity.

Role of Supreme Knowledge in Removing Grief

Knowledge removes grief. Understanding karma helps individuals accept suffering as consequence of past actions. Knowledge leads to connection with the Supreme. Meditation strengthens soul power and gradually eliminates sins.

Analogy of Bitter and Sweet Memories

Negative memories should be swallowed like bitter medicine. Positive memories should be enjoyed like sweetness. Holding onto pain increases suffering.

Curse and Power of Saints

Ordinary people lack power to curse entire clans. Powerful curses come only from advanced sages. Curses may affect generations. Many Example from scriptures are presented. Kapil Muni cursed sons of the ocean.

King Bhagirath brought Ganga to liberate them.

Anger destroys spiritual power. Even great souls lose accumulated merit through anger.

Effects of Curse on Causal Body

A curse transfers negative energy into the causal body. Strong curses may affect many births.

Example: Daksh Prajapati cursed the Moon. Remedy involved meditation and spiritual practice. Avoid troubling spiritually powerful souls. Knowledge is required to interact wisely with great souls.

Thought at Death Determines Future Direction

Thoughts at death influence future journey. Knowledgeable souls think positively even in suffering. After death, souls may: meditate in subtle realms, progress toward higher worlds, dissolve karmic bondage

Higher realms described include:

  • subtle world

  • causal world

  • Brahma puri

  • Vishnu puri

  • ultimate abode

Sages in subtle realms guide souls.

DNA, Soul Power, and Hereditary Traits

Hereditary traits pass through DNA. However, powerful souls bring their own strong soul influence.

Example: Some children do not inherit family diseases. Strong souls transform bodily structure through soul power. Example from scriptures: Prahlad born in demon lineage but became divine.

Soul strength determines destiny more than lineage.

Karma Determines Relationships

Relationships form due to karmic connections. Communication and connection depend on past karmic bonds. Some souls attempt to avoid new karmic ties but forget after birth. Trust in Supreme depends on purity of karma. Even divine help depends on karmic eligibility.

Example story: A sage tried to help a poor man secretly through hidden gold in a watermelon. Due to destiny, the man gave it away unknowingly. Karma determines outcomes beyond effort.

 How to Increase Forgiveness Power

To increase forgiveness:

  1. understand theory of karma

  2. develop determination not to seek revenge

  3. cultivate world welfare intention

  4. gain knowledge of Supreme

  5. practice meditation

  6. develop compassion

Forgiveness leads to peace of soul and mind. Virtues naturally emerge from soul purity. Primary virtue of soul is Supreme peace. Other virtues follow: unconditional love, compassion for all, Soul consciousness knowledge. Soul reflects qualities of Supreme Almighty Authority

Giving vs Taking Attitude- Path of Liberations

One who desires nothing receives everything. One who keeps asking remains bound. Giving/ Charity purifies karmic accounts. Taking increases karmic bondage. Donor mentality liberates soul. Attachment increases cycle of birth and death.

Meaning of Angels or Farishta

Term Angel or Farishta comes from Bible and Quran. According to Hindu understanding: Angels reside in Vishnu puri. They are extremely high quality souls with refined causal bodies. They are higher than heavenly gods. Devtas/ Dieties reside in third realm and seek pleasure.

Higher realms include:

  • Maharlok> Jan lok> Tap lok> Satya lok > Brahma puri> Vishnu puri

Angels are symbolic representations of highly evolved souls. Knowledge should be universal beyond religion and caste. One should learn from all scriptures. Avoid narrow thinking like frog in a well. Become vast like ocean of knowledge.

Universal Knowledge Philosophy

Knowledge should not be restricted by religion or tradition. Truth can come from any scripture. Keep mind broad. Adopt universal vision. Follow principle “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” Whole world is one family. All souls are children of one creator. Religion and caste are human constructs.

Message to Humanity

Understand karma. Avoid revenge.

Forgive others.

Develop virtues.

Increase soul power.

Seek knowledge.

Serve world welfare.

Transform self and world.

Forgiveness leads to peace and spiritual evolution.

Param shanti.

Introduction – Why Forgiveness is Difficult for a Soul

A common human soul often wants to forgive but feels unable to do so. This difficulty arises because forgiveness is not an ordinary quality. It is an extraordinary spiritual virtue that must be developed within the mind, intellect, and sanskars (impressions).

According to the knowledge, forgiveness develops through:

  • Continuous remembrance of the Supreme Soul

  • Repeated reflection on knowledge

  • Transformation of deep-rooted sanskars accumulated over many births

Forgiveness does not arise instantly. The soul has accumulated countless sanskars (Impressions) from previous births, and these must gradually be purified.

Role of Knowledge and Vairag (Detachment)

Detachment (vairag bhav) does not come automatically. It arises from true spiritual knowledge.

When a soul:

  • Takes shelter of knowledge

  • Remains in remembrance of the Supreme Soul Consciousness

  • Develops transcendental love

Then gradually, the qualities of the Supreme Soul begin to emerge within the individual. The Supreme Soul is described as: Ocean of kindness, knowledge and  forgiveness

Through remembrance and love, spiritual power flows into the soul, and qualities like forgiveness slowly develop.

Why Some People Feel Peace in Revenge

There is a significant difference between:

  • Peace obtained through forgiveness

  • Temporary satisfaction obtained through revenge

Forgiveness produces: Mental peace, Positive aura and Calm vibrations

Revenge produces: Temporary satisfaction, Inner disturbance and constant Fear of retaliation

Negative people (asur tendencies) may believe they feel peaceful after revenge, but internally: Fear remains, Disturbance increases and thus Negative cycles continue

Negative people clash with negative people, creating endless karmic conflicts.

Silence vs True Inner Peace

Remaining silent externally does not always mean inner peace.

There are two types of silence:

·       Forced Silence: where Person remains quiet due to fear or helplessness where as Mind continues generating negative thoughts thus Anger accumulates internally causing stored emotions to erupt later

·       Knowledge-based Silence comes from understanding spiritual truth thus mind becomes naturally peaceful. There will be No desire for revenge causing Stability remains even in challenging situations

True silence is not merely not speaking, but freedom from negative thoughts.

Influence of Sanskars on Children

Modern society shows increasing anger and aggression even among children. Sources of sanskars include: Parents, Teachers, Environment, Previous birth impressions Many people today are influenced by Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment and Ego. Because these vices exist widely in society, children also absorb similar tendencies. To change children’s sanskars:

  • Parents must first transform themselves

  • Good thinking must be cultivated

  • Teach peace instead of revenge

  • Develop virtues consciously

Children learn more from example than instruction.

Universal Spiritual Vision Beyond Religion

Spiritual knowledge teaches:

  • Go beyond religion, caste, and creed

  • See the whole world as one family

  • Understand all beings are children of the Supreme Soul

When a person gives happiness to others:

  • The Supreme Soul is pleased

  • Positive karmic effects develop

  • Spiritual progress accelerates

Irreligious actions performed in the name of religion create confusion. True spirituality unites rather than divides.

Effect of Forgiveness on Mind and Aura

State of mind directly influences the aura.

Before Forgiveness

  • Mind disturbed

  • Negative thinking

  • Aura becomes dark or black

  • Instability increases

After Forgiveness

  • Mind becomes peaceful

  • Positive vibrations develop

  • Aura gradually changes colour

Transformation process of aura: Black → Blue → Green → White. White aura represents: Peace, Purity and Spiritual elevation Forgiveness changes the speed and stability of the mind, leading to spiritual upliftment.

Forgiveness and Freedom from Karma (Karmateet Awastha)

A soul who wants liberation must Go beyond good and bad karmic impressions. Constantly Burn past karmas and most importantly Develop soul consciousness (atma swaroop)

Such a soul: Remains calm even in difficult situations, Does not think of revenge, Maintains positive aura and Radiates spiritual vibrations. A yogi filled with positive vibrations can even transform negative intentions of others.

Example described:
If someone comes with harmful intention, the peaceful vibrations of a yogi can transform that person’s mind.

This state requires: Big heart Knowledge of karma and Continuous spiritual effort

Obstacles as Tools for Spiritual Growth

Challenges and obstacles are necessary for spiritual progress.

Important understanding:

  • Big souls face big problems

  • Obstacles bring transformation

  • Difficult situations reveal hidden sanskars

Every life situation is an opportunity to:

  • Remove karmic bondage

  • Strengthen spiritual awareness

  • Develop soul consciousness

Knowledgeable souls take challenges as opportunities for growth.

Importance of Practice (Abhyas)

Spiritual transformation requires continuous practice. Control of mind requires: Knowledge (gyan) and Practice (abhyas) Knowledge must be applied repeatedly in daily life. When negative thoughts arise:

  • Stop them immediately

  • Replace with spiritual awareness

  • Maintain remembrance of Supreme Soul

Consistent effort leads to gradual success.

Deep Spiritual Teaching from Gita

Krishna explains deep spiritual knowledge through the example of Arjun. When Arjun hesitated to fight against relatives, Krishna gave knowledge:

  • Body and bodily relations are temporary

  • Truth must be protected

  • Supporting untruth is equal to performing negative karma

Those who support falsehood create suffering in the world.

Krishna explains: Destroying unrighteousness is not sin when done to protect truth. Those assisting injustice contribute to global suffering. Therefore, destruction of adharma becomes a righteous act.

Examples mentioned:

  • Bhishma Pitamah

  • Dronacharya

  • Kripacharya

  • Supporters of Duryodhan

They were destroyed because they supported unrighteousness. This is explained through the theory of karma.

Conclusion – Forgiveness as a Path to Spiritual Liberation

Forgiveness is not weakness but spiritual strength.

Key teachings:

  • Forgiveness develops gradually

  • Requires knowledge of soul and Supreme Soul

  • Requires transformation of sanskars

  • Requires continuous remembrance

  • Requires practice

A forgiving soul develops:

  • Peaceful mind

  • Pure aura

  • Freedom from karmic bondage

  • Eligibility for higher spiritual dimensions

Forgiveness helps the soul progress toward:

  • Soul consciousness

  • Karmateet state

  • Supreme abode (Param Dham)

Forgiveness is therefore not merely moral behaviour but a scientific spiritual process of purification and elevation
