The Path of Awakening Through Soham Sadhana ( Part 2)
Continuing the Journey
Here is both theoretical and deeply practical, focusing on inner awakening through meditation, awareness, and the subtle practice of the “Without / Soham” mantra. Those who have not watched the previous episode are encouraged to do so, as today’s understanding builds directly upon it. This discourse is not merely about liberation after death, but about Jivanmukti—liberation while living.
A Fundamental Question: How Does a Householder Attain Liberation?
A recurring question from seekers is:“Which yoga should we practice to attain liberation, especially while living a householder’s life?”
The answer is direct and uncompromising:
Liberation is not achieved through shortcuts.
It is not attained by a single mantra, ritual, or a fixed number of months.
Practice must continue until the last breath.
This is a journey of becoming—not acquiring something external, but remembering and stabilizing one’s true nature.
The Core Practice: Knowing and Becoming the Soul
The essential daily practice is the continuous remembrance: “I am the soul.”---------“I am a pure, conscious, powerful soul.” Different expressions may be used—pure soul, conscious soul, powerful soul—but the essence remains the same:
recognizing one’s original nature and living from that awareness.
With sustained practice:
One naturally becomes a karma yogi
Desires, stress, and inner conflicts begin to dissolve
The cycle of birth and death becomes understandable
Life gradually aligns with liberation
Opportunity and Awareness: Why So Few Truly Listen
Even when profound knowledge is freely available, only a few truly absorb it.
For example:
Lakhs may watch a spiritual event
Only thousands watch it fully
Only a handful transform their lives through it
This reflects not a lack of opportunity, but a lack of awareness and seriousness. Sacred days like Shivratri are often reduced to holidays, celebrations, or entertainment, while their true spiritual significance is overlooked. The tragedy is not ignorance—it is missed opportunity.
Knowledge and Darkness: Dawn or Night
Life unfolds differently depending on awareness:
For the ignorant, there is darkness
For the knowledgeable, there is dawn
This world of attachment, desire, and illusion will repeat itself until awareness arises. Liberation requires daily, moment-to-moment remembrance of the soul.
Thoughts Are Also Actions A crucial teaching emphasized here is:
Thoughts are actions.
Even if an action is not performed physically:
Negative thoughts generate negative energy
They damage the mind, intellect, and inner conditioning
Every thought has consequences
There is no such thing as a “harmless thought.”
The True Cost of Wasted Time
Every moment wasted in: Anger, Gossip, Emotional drama, Unnecessary social obligations
…is a moment stolen from: Peace, Knowledge, Meditation, Soul awakening
The real cost is not time—it is lost inner growth accumulated over lifetimes.
The Soham (Hamsa) Practice Explained
1. The Natural Mantra
“Soham” is not imposed—it is already happening with every breath.
Inhalation: So
Exhalation: Hum
This spontaneous flow is also called Hamsa Yoga.
2. Three Elements of Complete Practice
True sadhana requires harmony between:
Jap – awareness of the sound
Dhyana – focused attention
Bhav – inner feeling and surrender
Without inner feeling, practice remains incomplete.
3. Pranayama and Sound Awareness
Pranayama consists of:
Purak – inhalation
Kumbhak – pause
Rechak – exhalation
Within this flow:
Subtle sounds arise naturally
Awareness sharpens
Mind stabilizes
Inner silence deepens
No verbal chanting is required—listening itself becomes meditation.
Non-Duality: From Devotion to Oneness
Dual worship sees the devotee and God as separate.
Non-dual worship realizes:
“I and the Divine are not two.”
Like sugar dissolving in water, individuality merges into awareness.
This is the essence of Soham sadhana.
Strength Over Emotional Dependency
A strong warning is given against emotional weakness:
Do not depend on sympathy
Do not cultivate victimhood
Do not outsource strength to others
True spirituality builds: Inner resilience, Emotional independence, Mental clarity . Otherwise, unresolved emotions turn into anxiety, depression, and suffering.
Practice Is the Only Asset That Remains
Knowledge without practice collapses in crisis.
Just as military training must be maintained: Spiritual strength must be trained daily, Otherwise, it fails when needed most Whatever you truly practice becomes your inner asset.
The Final Message: Silence and Awakening
Ultimately:
Close your eyes
Enter silence
Observe the soul
Rest in awareness
Spiritual knowledge is not meant to increase tension—it exists to dissolve it.
