Do Anything, But Do Not Keep a Cat – Spiritual Meaning of Attachment

Let us begin today’s powerful episode together. Now, for the next two weeks, there has been a ceasefire, and the wars have stopped. This is a very good thing. Bapuji also wanted this. Bapuji has said in his video that if by the 26th and 27th the Third World War stops, then knowledge will spread throughout the world. When knowledge spreads, divine souls will awaken, and their positive transformation will prevent world wars and create positive change.

However, the condition is that war should stop for two years. Why must this happen? Because divine souls are not awakening. Tamoguni (ignorant) souls dominate the Earth. If we look at the past 100 years of history, we see countless wars between Iran, America, and other countries. The point is that as long as tamoguna (ignorance) dominates Earth, wars will continue. Who can stop it? No one. Even avatars like Krishna and Rama could not stop wars. This Earth operates in a cycle that no being can easily escape.

Even after ceasefires, attacks continue. How long will ceasefires last? Only God knows. Some leaders want oil and resources and want to show their people that they achieved something for the country. We do not know what goes on in their minds. Perhaps the ceasefire is only a break for preparation. But we must continue our work — spreading vibrations of peace. If wars had continued all these years, fewer souls would have connected with knowledge. Without knowledge, how will people awaken? When truth reaches people, they will awaken and be ready for transformation. Collective meditation and tapasya are necessary for world peace. We want peace in the world because when the environment stabilizes, knowledge can spread. Imagine if petrol, diesel, or internet cables are cut — knowledge transmission stops. If we cannot even come live, what will happen?

War is not a solution. But tamoguni minds only want conflict. Even if 1% of souls awaken, it is a great achievement. Even if 900,000 souls awaken and spread vibrations of supreme peace, it is a great achievement. The biggest conflict is not between countries or religions, but within ourselves. We struggle to transform ourselves. We know we should not have negative thoughts — lust, anger, greed, attachment, jealousy — yet we struggle internally. Many people practice spiritual discipline but still fall due to their own thoughts. Even a temporary depression can make us lose direction.

The mind is a receiver. Thoughts from the environment keep coming. Good and bad thoughts both come. The mind gets tired and sometimes gives up.

“Do anything, but do not keep a cat.”: Story Explanation

When I asked AI to explain this, it gave limited interpretations about cats having negative energies. But today we will understand the deeper meaning.

Once a monk renounced his home and went to the forest to live in an ashram. He lived peacefully and used to visit a nearby village for food. One day, a cat came to the ashram. The monk felt compassion and started feeding it. He began bringing milk for the cat from the village. Slowly, he became responsible for the cat. Villagers suggested keeping a cow so milk would always be available. Then someone was needed to take care of the cow. A woman from the village came daily to help. People began gossiping about the monk and the woman. To avoid defamation, the monk married the woman. Eventually, children were born. Thus, a monk who had renounced the world became entangled again — all because of keeping a cat.

The lesson: attachment to even a small responsibility can entangle the soul again in worldly cycles.

Core Spiritual Teaching

“Do not keep a cat” means do not develop excessive attachment to any being or object. Every soul has its own karmic bondage accumulated over many lifetimes. Whether it is a son, daughter, spouse, parents, or neighbor, everyone has their own karmic journey. Attachment traps the soul in the cycle of birth and death.

Example: King Bharat renounced everything and was close to liberation. But he became attached to a baby deer. Due to attachment, he was reborn as a deer.

Bhagavad Gita says: Whatever one remembers at the time of death, that state one attains next.

Chandogya Upanishads say: The mind becomes what it contemplates. “ Mann is Manushya”

Brahmadharakaniya Upanishad Says:  He who dies with a particular desire — that very desire becomes the seed of the next birth. A single unfulfilled desire can lead to another birth

Subtle Maya (Illusion)

Gross attachments like wealth, family, and power are easy to recognize. But subtle attachments are more dangerous: Attachment to an idea, Attachment to recognition, Attachment to respect, Attachment to one person, Attachment to a desire Even spiritual ego is a subtle trap. Even saints may become attached to reputation or honor. Subtle maya is more dangerous than gross maya because it is invisible.

Golden Deer Example from Ramayana

When Sita saw the golden deer, she desired it. That one attraction led to her abduction and the war of Ramayana. Even divine beings can become trapped by illusion. A small attraction can change destiny.

Importance of Final Thought

At the time of death: Body is left behind, Wealth is left behind, Family is left behind

But the final thought remains. The final thought becomes the seed of the next birth. Just like the final shape given to clay determines the pot’s shape. Ajamila attained liberation because he called his son Narayan at death — which is also the name of God.

Therefore earlier people named children Ram, Krishna, Narayan.

Main Message

Attachment is the greatest bondage. Even a small attachment can pull the soul into many future births.

Therefore: Love all, Serve all, Care for all. But do not forget God. “Do not keep a cat” symbolizes:Do not become deeply attached to anything that makes you forget the Supreme.

Goal of Life

The highest goal is: To move from the mortal world (Mrityulok) to the immortal realm (Amarlok) If a person gains this knowledge before death, thousands of future struggles are avoided.

Vidur Niti states: One who becomes attached to small things may cross the ocean but get stuck in a blade of grass. Attachment alone is bondage. Detached action is liberation.

Final Essence

What we think at the final moment determines the next birth. Life prepares the field. The final thought plants the seed. That seed becomes the tree of the next life.

Therefore choose wisely: Do you want another worldly birth? Or liberation? God has given free will. You may remain a soul (jeev) or realize Shiva-consciousness. The choice is yours. Let us keep a resolution: May the entire multiverse transform. May all souls awaken. May supreme peace spread everywhere. Infinite supreme great peace.

We will meet again tomorrow at 10 PM.

Paramshanti (supreme peace)
