2018, Why and How was Earth formed? Part 1

The Spiritual Origin of Earth According to Ancient Cosmic Knowledge

Humanity has long wondered how Earth came into existence and when creation truly began. Modern science explains that Earth formed approximately 4.6 billion years ago, while the observable universe is estimated to be around 13.8 billion years old. Ancient Sanatan scriptures, however, present a far more vast and spiritual understanding of creation — one that extends beyond physical matter into the realms of consciousness, subtle dimensions, and cosmic cycles.

According to the discourse of Bapuji Dashrathbhai Patel, Earth cannot be understood separately from the creation of the Brahmand (cosmic universe). To know when Earth was formed, one must first understand the origin of existence itself.

Understanding Cosmic Time in Sanatan Knowledge

Bapuji explains that human understanding of time is extremely limited. The scriptures describe cosmic durations so vast that ordinary thinking struggles to comprehend them. According to the Puranic calculations, Brahma’s lifespan is divided into two great halves known as Parardhas. Fifty years of Brahma have already passed, and currently the second half is running. Within this cosmic cycle, the seventh Manvantara and the twenty-eighth Dwapar cycle are ongoing.

One single day of Brahma consists of immense cycles of creation and dissolution. Brahma’s day and night together span unimaginable cosmic periods. Therefore, the creation of Earth is viewed not as an isolated event but as part of an enormous multidimensional process unfolding across countless ages.

The Beginning of Creation: Supreme Consciousness

According to the discourse, in the beginning there was no physical Earth. There was only supreme divine consciousness — Shiva Nirakar, the formless Parabrahma Parmeshwar. The entire existence was filled with supreme light, consciousness, and spiritual energy. Every soul originally existed within this divine radiance. Then arose the divine intention for creation.

From the supreme consciousness emerged Shiva-Shakti. From Shiva-Shakti emerged Vishnu. Vishnu manifested Lakshmi from within himself. From Vishnu’s navel came Brahma. Then Brahma and Shiva together manifested the Saptarishis — the seven great sages.

At this stage, there was still no need for Earth because existence itself was subtle and consciousness-based.

Why Earth Was Not Needed in the Beginning

Bapuji explains that the beings existing in the earliest creation possessed extremely subtle divine bodies made of light and supreme spiritual essence. These beings did not require physical land, mountains, rivers, or material structures. They existed in higher spiritual realms where consciousness itself functioned as the basis of existence.

According to this understanding:

  • There was no gross matter.

  • There were no physical planets as humans understand today.

  • Existence operated through divine energy and subtle vibrations.

  • Souls possessed extraordinary spiritual powers and luminous forms.

The earliest stages of creation unfolded entirely in higher lokas (spiritual realms).

Formation of the Higher Lokas

The scriptures describe the manifestation of multiple lokas or dimensions of existence. According to the discourse, the seven higher lokas were created before physical Earth appeared. These higher realms were subtle, luminous, and inhabited by beings possessing immense spiritual consciousness. Since their bodies were not dense or materialistic, there was no requirement for Earth-like structures. Creation at this stage remained primarily spiritual and energy-based.

The Descent of Souls and the Need for Earth

Over immense cosmic durations, souls gradually descended from higher states of consciousness into denser conditions of existence. Their spiritual purity slowly reduced, and their subtle bodies became heavier and more material in nature.

As this happened:

  • Souls lost portions of their inner luminosity.

  • Their consciousness became more attached to form and experience.

  • Subtle matter slowly condensed into gross matter.

  • The five elements began becoming denser.

The discourse explains that eventually the elements of water and earth manifested in gross form. Earth was therefore created as a support system for souls whose consciousness had become increasingly materialistic.

Creation Through Condensation of Consciousness

One of the central teachings in Behad Ka Gyan is that creation first manifests in consciousness before becoming physical matter.

According to this spiritual explanation:

  1. Consciousness descends.

  2. Vibrations become denser.

  3. Subtle elements condense.

  4. Gross physical matter emerges.

Thus Earth was not suddenly created. It gradually manifested over vast cosmic periods as the vibrations and densities of souls changed. Mountains, rivers, forests, and physical landscapes were first created in subtle dimensions before appearing physically on Earth.

The Role of the Sun in Spiritual Cosmology

Bapuji presents a symbolic spiritual interpretation of the Sun’s creation. According to the discourse, in the earliest stages of existence, souls themselves radiated sufficient spiritual light. External sunlight was not necessary. As souls lost their inner luminosity and ignorance increased, darkness spread within creation. Only then was the Sun manifested to provide external illumination.

In Behad Gyan, the Sun is described spiritually rather than scientifically. Its role is connected to the declining inner radiance of consciousness.

The Sun is described as created through divine powers associated with Surya Narayan.

The discourse further claims that:

  • Initially the Sun revolved around the Earth.

  • Day and night did not originally exist as they do today.

  • These conditions developed later during cosmic decline.

This explanation is presented as spiritual cosmology rather than modern astronomy.

Spiritual vs Scientific Understanding of Life

Modern science explains life through:

  • Evolution

  • Microorganisms

  • Biological development

  • Oceanic origins of life

Bapuji says spiritual knowledge explains something deeper:

  • Consciousness itself

  • The origin of souls

  • The decline of spiritual energy

  • The creation of bodies through karmic evolution

He states that material science studies physical mechanisms but not the spiritual cause behind existence.

Human Consciousness and Material Decline

The discourse repeatedly emphasizes that consciousness shapes reality. Human thought influences not only personal experience but also the atmosphere of Earth itself.

As collective consciousness became negative:

  • Violence increased.

  • Ignorance expanded.

  • Souls became trapped in tamasic tendencies.

  • Materialism deepened.

This decline eventually led souls into increasingly dense states of existence.

Formation of Darkness and Dense Matter

As souls became increasingly materialistic:

  • Heavy elements formed.

  • Darkness increased.

  • The influence of the five elements intensified.

Bapuji says human thoughts directly affect the atmosphere and environment.

According to him:

  • Human consciousness influences the air element.

  • Collective thoughts shape planetary conditions.

  • Negative thinking gradually corrupted creation.

Origin of Animals and the 84 Lakh Yonis

According to the discourse, humans did not evolve upward from animals. Instead, souls originally existed in higher divine states and gradually descended into lower yonis due to karmic decline and attachment.

The 84 lakh yonis (8.4 million life forms) are described as vibrational states of consciousness.

As souls became attached to particular desires and tendencies, they entered corresponding forms of existence, including:

  • Animal life

  • Bird forms

  • Aquatic species

  • Lower vibrational beings

Thus biological diversity is explained spiritually as the manifestation of karmic consciousness.

Lower Lokas and Pataallok

As consciousness descended further, lower realms known as Atal, Vital, Sutal, Talatal, Mahatal, Rasatal, and Pataallok were formed. These are interpreted not merely as underground physical worlds but as denser vibrational dimensions associated with tamasic consciousness. The discourse suggests that fragmented celestial structures and cosmic debris observed in astronomy may reflect remnants of ancient cosmic systems described in the scriptures.

that additional worlds and planetary structures formed outside Earth as part of this descending process. Some worlds eventually broke apart, and fragments remained moving through space.

This is compared with what modern science calls:

  • Asteroid belts

  • Floating planetary debris

  • Cosmic rock formations

The discourse suggests that ancient shattered realms may correspond symbolically to such celestial structures

Heaven Existed Before Physical Earth

A significant claim in the discourse is: Swarga (heavenly realms) existed before physical Earth fully developed.

Initially:

  • Divine beings lived in subtle heavenly realms.

  • Earth formed later as consciousness descended.

As divine beings fell from higher states:

  • Gross physical existence increased.

  • Earthly life expanded.

  • Animal forms and lower births emerged

About Maya (Illusion / Matrix)

The discourse explains that the role of preservation in creation belongs to Lord Vishnu. According to the speaker, Vishnu spread Maya — the cosmic illusion or veil that causes souls to become attached to worldly existence.

This Maya is described as:

  • A fog or veil over consciousness

  • A force that creates attachment

  • The cause of forgetfulness of one’s true spiritual nature

  • The mechanism through which souls become trapped in material existence

The speaker says that Maya is not merely imagination but a cosmic power connected with creation itself.

According to this view:

  • Souls forget their original divine state.

  • They become absorbed in worldly experiences.

  • They identify with body, mind, emotions, and material reality.

This illusion gradually strengthens as consciousness descends into denser existence.

The discourse refers to Maya as something explained deeply within Sanatan scriptures and spiritual traditions.

Maya and the Forgetfulness of the Soul

Bapuji explains that souls forget their original divine nature because layers of Maya and karmic impressions accumulate over consciousness.

These coverings include: Ego, Attachment, Material desires, Body-consciousness, Karmic impressions

As these layers deepen, the soul identifies only with the physical body and loses awareness of its divine origin.

Maya is described as a cosmic illusionary field that binds souls into repeated cycles of birth and death.

Age of Humanity According to This View

The discourse claims that human existence spans unimaginably vast cosmic durations measured through Brahma’s time cycles.

The speaker repeatedly emphasizes that:

  • Humanity’s existence is far older than modern scientific calculations.

  • Cosmic cycles extend across enormous spans of time.

  • Earth’s history is linked with spiritual evolution and decline.

Souls From Other Universes and Realms

The discourse briefly mentions that souls and beings may originate from:

  • Other galaxies

  • Other universes

  • Higher dimensions

  • Different categories of existence

According to the speaker, existence contains many levels of consciousness and many forms of beings beyond ordinary human understanding.

The Cycles of the Four Yugas

The discourse also explains the four Yugas:

  • Satyug

  • Tretayug

  • Dwaparyug

  • Kaliyug

These are described as repeating energetic cycles of consciousness rather than merely historical eras. Satyug represents purity and divine consciousness, while Kaliyug represents spiritual decline and material dominance.

At the end of cosmic cycles, Pralaya (dissolution) occurs, after which creation renews again. According to this explanation:

  • These cycles have repeated countless times.

  • Humanity remains trapped within these repeating cosmic patterns.

  • Souls continue taking birth again and again.

Earth as a Karmic Realm

According to Behad Ka Gyan, Earth is not the first realm of existence. Higher subtle lokas existed long before gross physical Earth formed.

Earth is described as: A karmic field, A learning realm, A place of evolution and suffering, A support system for descending souls

Souls come and go through repeated cycles according to karma and consciousness.

Bapuji  clarifies that When cosmic destruction (Pralaya) happens,

  • Earth continues through cycles.

  • What changes are the beings, civilizations, forms, and conditions.

  • Souls continuously come and go from higher lokas to Earth and back again.

Why Human Beings Forget Everything

One major topic discussed is why humans forget their spiritual origins.

Bapuji explains that when souls enter physical existence:

  • Layers or coverings form around the soul. These coverings hide original knowledge and memory.  Souls gradually lose awareness of their true nature.

According to the discourse, multiple coverings surround the soul:

  • Space-related coverings , Atomic or energetic coverings , Mental coverings , Mechanical or material coverings

These layers create forgetfulness and limitation.

As a result:

  • Human beings become spiritually disconnected.

  • They forget previous states of existence.

  • They identify only with present worldly life.

The speaker says this forgetfulness is one of the main effects of Maya.

Science and Spiritual Cosmology

The discourse does not reject science entirely but suggests that science observes only the external material layer of creation. Spiritual knowledge attempts to explain the deeper metaphysical dimensions behind existence.

Modern science studies matter, galaxies, and physical laws. Spiritual cosmology studies:

  • Consciousness

  • Karma

  • Subtle realms

  • Vibrational states

  • Cycles of manifestation and dissolution

According to Bapuji, both approaches attempt to understand existence, but spiritual knowledge addresses dimensions beyond material observation.

Conclusion: Earth as Part of a Vast Spiritual Process

The teachings presented in this discourse describe Earth not merely as a physical planet, but as part of a vast multidimensional spiritual process involving consciousness, karma, subtle realms, and cosmic evolution.

According to this perspective:

  • Creation began from supreme consciousness.

  • Souls originally existed in divine subtle states.

  • Physical Earth emerged gradually as consciousness descended.

  • Human thought continues shaping the atmosphere of Earth.

  • The universe undergoes endless cycles of creation and dissolution.

The discussion concludes with the understanding that existence is far greater than material perception alone and that spiritual knowledge seeks to reveal the hidden dimensions behind creation itself.
