The Causal Body (Karan Sharir): Spiritual Science Explained by Bapuji

Introduction

In spiritual science, the human being is not limited to the visible physical body. According to the teachings of Bapuji Paramshanti, every human existence is composed of three interconnected bodies: the physical body (Sthul Sharir), the subtle body (Sukshma Sharir), and the causal body (Karan Sharir).

Among these, the causal body plays the most profound role because it contains the root causes of our experiences, diseases, and karmic records. Understanding the causal body is essential for anyone who seeks true healing, spiritual growth, and liberation from suffering. This article explains the nature, structure, function, and purification of the causal body, based on Bapuji’s detailed spiritual discourse.

The Three Bodies of Human Existence

According to Bapuji, the human system is built from the five elements (Pancha Tatva).

1. Physical Body (Sthul Sharir)

The physical body is the visible body, made primarily from: 1. Earth element 2. Water element

It is the body we can see, touch, and treat with physical medicine.

2. Subtle Body (Sukshma Sharir)

The subtle body consists of: 3. Air element 4.  Fire element

This body governs:

  • Energy flow, Emotions, Mental states, Aura and vibrations

Blessings, prayers, and positive energy mainly influence this subtle layer.

3. Causal Body (Karan Sharir)

The causal body is made from the 5. ether element (Akash Tatva).

It is the deepest energetic layer of the human system and stores:

  • All karmic records

  • Root causes of diseases

  • Impressions of thoughts

  • Memories of many births

In simple terms: Thoughts create impressions in the causal body, and those impressions later manifest in the physical body as events, emotions, or diseases.

The Causal Body is Made of Thoughts: Bapuji explains that the causal body is essentially a body formed by thoughts. Every thought generated in the mind leaves an imprint in the causal body.

For example:

  • If a person repeatedly experiences grief, anger, or hatred,

  • Those thoughts become permanent records in the causal body.

These records gradually influence:

  1. The subtle body

  2. The physical body

Thus, diseases or problems that appear in the physical body are not sudden events but the final result of deep causal impressions.

How Disease Originates in the Causal Body

Bapuji emphasizes an important spiritual principle: Every disease first originates in the causal body. The process happens in three stages.

Stage 1: Thought Creation

Negative thoughts such as: grief, anger, Stress, fear, emotional pain create energetic disturbances in the causal body.

Stage 2: Effect on Subtle Body

These disturbances then affect subtle body by disturbing: energy flow>>emotional balance>>aura vibrations

Stage 3: Physical Manifestation

Eventually the imbalance appears as: physical illness, mental distress, life problems

Thus, disease moves from causal → subtle → physical body.

Why Medical Treatment Is Often Temporary

According to Bapuji, modern treatments such as: Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy primarily treat the physical body. They may provide temporary relief, but they do not address the root cause stored in the causal body.

Similarly:

  • Blessings (dua) influence the subtle body.

  • But only divine spiritual power can repair the causal body.

Diseases of Many Births

Bapuji explains that serious illnesses such as cancer are often the result of many lifetimes of accumulated negative energy. The causal body contains etheric cells that store karmic vibrations.

When these cells become filled with negative energy:

  • they become discharged

  • positivity disappears

  • disease eventually manifests in the physical body

This is why some diseases appear without obvious causes in the present life.

Lifestyle and the Protection of the Causal Body

Bapuji advises that the first step in protecting the causal body is changing one's lifestyle. Key principles include:

Avoid Emotional Disturbance: Repeated emotional suffering places pressure on the mind and damages the causal body.

Avoid Stressful Living: A life filled with tension gradually weakens the mind and creates negative impressions.

Remain Mentally Stable : Mental stability prevents further damage to the causal body.

The Power of Thoughtless Silence

One of Bapuji’s most powerful teachings is the importance of mental silence. He explains that soul energy is preserved when the mind becomes thoughtless.

Practical guidance includes:

  • Speak less, Live in solitude, Avoid crowded places, Maintain inner silence

According to Bapuji: "Antarmukhi sada sukhi" One who turns inward always remains happy. When the mind becomes silent, Akash Tatva (ether element) increases, strengthening the causal body.

Meditation and Divine Light

Bapuji teaches that the causal body cannot be healed by physical methods. It can only be purified through divine light received through meditation.

This divine light is not: Sunlight, electricity, fire

Instead, it is spiritual energy received from the Supreme Powerhouse.:When the soul connects with the Almighty Authority, divine light flows into the soul and then into the causal body.

This power gradually:

  • burns negative karmas (vikarma)

  • repairs damaged causal cells

  • purifies the soul.

Signs That the Causal Body Is Being Charged

As the causal body begins to recharge, several inner changes appear:

  • deep mental peace

  • Live in Solitude

  • detachment from material desires

  • reduction of emotional reactions

  • natural silence of mind

  • spiritual knowledge emerging within

The individual begins experiencing vairagya (detachment) from worldly attachments. Go beyond religion, community and caste. Seek to have knowledge of only one, Almighty Authority and forget all other. Remember only one like Meera always think of ‘Mera to giridhar gopal dusra na koi’.

How to Overcome Depression

Bapuji explains that in today’s world 70–80% of people suffer from depression because their desires and expectations are not fulfilled. When success, recognition, or personal wishes are not achieved, the mind becomes disturbed. A depressed person repeatedly thinks about the same negative thoughts, and this continuous repetition strengthens negative energy within the mind. This negative thinking does not remain limited to the mind alone. It gradually increases emotional suffering and can even contribute to physical disease. Therefore, understanding the root cause of depression is essential.

The Root Cause of Depression

According to Bapuji, one of the major causes of depression is ego—the constant feeling of “me and mine.”

Human beings develop many desires such as:

  • desire for name and fame

  • desire for success

  • desire for recognition

  • desire for material comforts

When these desires are not fulfilled, the mind becomes restless and disappointed. Gradually the person falls into a state of sadness and mental disturbance. Therefore, Bapuji advises that true knowledge is necessary to overcome depression.

Freedom from Desire and Attachment

The first step toward mental freedom is to gradually withdraw from unnecessary desires. When a person constantly seeks approval, appreciation, or worldly success, the mind becomes dependent on external circumstances.

Bapuji advises:

  • move away from the chase for name and fame

  • reduce unnecessary desires

  • free yourself from emotional attachment

This state of detachment is described in spiritual language as “Nashto Moha Smriti Labdha”—a state where attachment disappears and clarity of understanding arises.

Stop Reacting to Negative Words

Many times depression grows because people keep thinking about what others say about them. If someone speaks harshly or negatively, the mind repeatedly replays those words.

Bapuji explains that a truly knowledgeful person behaves differently.

A wise person:

  • sees without becoming disturbed

  • hears without creating mental reactions

In other words, the mind does not create impressions from every external event.

Build Soul Consciousness

According to Bapuji, the real protection from depression comes from soul consciousness. When a person constantly remembers the Almighty Authority and lives a life of Karma Yoga, the awareness of the soul gradually becomes stronger.

In this state:

  • the mind remains stable

  • emotional disturbances decrease

  • external negativity loses its influence

Even if a person hears criticism or negativity, no deep impression is formed in the mind.

Do Not Absorb Negativity

Bapuji asks a simple but powerful question: If someone speaks negatively, why should we absorb it?

The moment a person stops reacting emotionally, negative words lose their power. The mind becomes calm and stable. Through knowledge, meditation, and remembrance of the Supreme Power, the soul gradually develops inner strength. When this strength grows, depression begins to disappear naturally. True freedom from depression comes when the soul remains connected with the Supreme Source of Power and established in soul consciousness.

The State of Karmatit: The highest stage described by Bapuji is the Karmatit Awastha.

In this state:

  • the causal body becomes 100% charged

  • all negative karmic impressions are burned

  • the soul becomes extremely powerful

At this stage, the soul becomes free from the cycle of karmic suffering.

The Role of the Causal Body in Rebirth

The causal body travels with the soul across lifetimes.

When a person dies:

  • the physical body remains on earth

  • but the subtle body and causal body accompany the soul

If damage exists in the causal body, it may manifest in the next birth as:

  • congenital diseases, physical weaknesses, deformities

Thus, the causal body acts as the karmic blueprint for future births.

Why Some Children Are Born with Illness

Bapuji explains that even a child in the mother's womb may develop illness. This occurs because the causal body carries unresolved karmic defects from previous births. When the new physical body forms, it grows based on the existing causal blueprint, reproducing those defects.

The True Method of Healing

According to Bapuji, true healing requires three steps:

1. Knowledge: Understanding the laws of karma and the structure of the soul.

2. Soul Consciousness: Realizing: “I am not the body. I am the soul.”

3. Connection with the Supreme Powerhouse: Through meditation and remembrance of the Almighty Authority, divine light enters the soul. This divine power gradually repairs the causal body.

Spiritual Evolution of the Soul

When the causal body becomes purified and charged, the soul progresses spiritually.

After death, such a soul may ascend through higher spiritual realms:

  • Bhulok>>Bhuvarlok>>Swarglok>>Maharlok>>Janlok>>Taplok>>Brahmapuri>>Vishnupuri>>Shivpuri>>Paramdham (Supreme Abode)

Ultimately the soul becomes equivalent to Shiva consciousness, filled with knowledge, love, and peace.

The Goal of Human Life

Bapuji teaches that human life has a divine purpose. It is not merely for material enjoyment but for:

  • spiritual awakening

  • purification of the causal body

  • realization of the soul

  • service for the welfare of the universe

Through meditation and divine connection, the soul spreads vibrations of supreme peace throughout the cosmos.

Final Message

According to Bapuji, only a few rare souls understand and follow this knowledge. But those who do can transform their lives and contribute to the spiritual transformation of the world.

Every soul should remember:

  • connect with the Supreme Powerhouse

  • remain in soul consciousness

  • purify the causal body

  • spread peace throughout the universe.

Through this path, the soul experiences supreme peace, supreme bliss, and ultimate liberation.
