The Power of the Mind: The Gateway to Divine Consciousness and Supreme Peace (Paramshanti)

Understanding the Mind: The Subtle Power of Creation

The mind is not a physical organ. It is a subtle field of energy — the instrument through which the soul thinks, imagines, and experiences. Without the mind, the soul cannot express or realize anything. The Upanishads call it manas, the inner power that bridges the soul and the world.

The Katha Upanishad beautifully explains:

·       The body is the chariot,

·       The soul is the charioteer,

·       The intellect is the driver,

·       The mind is the reins.

If the reins are controlled, the chariot reaches its destination — union with the Supreme. If the reins are loose, the soul wanders endlessly in the world of senses.

The Four Divine Powers of the Mind

The mind holds four supreme powers that shape all creation:

  1. Power of Imagination – Whatever the mind imagines can become reality. “As you think, so you become.” This is the secret of creation — Manasa Kalpita Srishti (mind-born creation).

  2. Power of Intention (Resolve) – When the mind takes a strong spiritual resolve, it can connect the soul directly to Brahman. Sages and yogis perform miracles through this Sankalp Shakti (power of resolve).

  3. Power of Attraction – The mind attracts vibrations of similar frequency. Fear attracts fear; faith attracts strength. This is the true Law of Attraction mentioned in both scriptures and quantum physics.

  4. Power of Creation – The entire cosmos was born through divine thought. Consciousness itself is the creative power of God.

As the Atharvaveda declares:
Yato manah tato vachah” — Where the mind goes, there speech follows.
And the Rigveda affirms: “Manasi Vishva Bhavanani Syanti” — The whole universe resides in the mind.

The Mandukya Upanishad says, 'Manasa hi animanam eti' – by the mind, the subtlest elements can be attained.

In the Puranas, the power of the mind is spoken of in the Shiva Purana. Lord Shiva says the mind is the root cause of all beings. Through resolve, it creates the universe and through disturbances, it destroys it. It is written in the Narada Bhakti Sutra that where devotion becomes stable in the mind is the true life.

 Insights from Modern Science

Modern neuroscience and quantum physics now echo ancient wisdom:

  • Thoughts in the mind are transmitted by brain neurons as electrical signals.

  • Quantum science shows that reality depends on the observer’s consciousness — what the mind perceives becomes truth.

Thus, creation is not an external act but a reflection of inner consciousness.

Teachings of the Gita and Bapuji

The Bhagavad Gita (6:5–6) declares:

“One must elevate oneself by one’s own mind; the mind is the friend and the enemy of the soul.” Lord Krishna says that through practice (abhyas) and detachment (vairagya), the restless mind can be conquered. The Gita states that the mind is the cause of both bondage and liberation. Through practice, we can control it.Bapuji Dashrathbhai Patel further reveals that the mind is subtler than an atom and faster than the universe. When the soul connects its mind to Brahma consciousness, it transcends time, death, and illusion (Maya). This is the science of Brahma Jnana — the knowledge of the Infinite.

The Structure of Consciousness: Mind, Intellect, and Chitta

The mind is the active software of the soul, while chitta is the vast storage of sanskaras (impressions) — like divine hardware. The intellect (buddhi) decides; the mind (manas) executes; and the chitta preserves.
When sanskaras become pure, the mind acts harmoniously. But when they are impure, the mind becomes restless and destructive. Purify the sanskaras through knowledge, meditation, and association with divine souls, and the mind will shine like crystal.

How the Mind Loses Its Power

The power of the mind weakens through:

  • Negative thinking – lowers vibrations and kills enthusiasm.

  • Desire, anger, greed, attachment, ego – the five poisons that drain mental strength.

  • Laziness and carelessness – weaken determination.

  • Sensory indulgence and digital addiction – scatter focus.

  • Fear and anxiety – destroy the inner light.

  • Emotional imbalance and jealousy – leak mental energy.

  • Comparison and self-doubt – dim the brilliance of the spirit.

  • Lack of purpose – makes the mind wander without direction.

  • Wrong company – poisons the subconscious through vibration.

The Upanishads say:

“Fear is the fruit of ignorance; fearlessness is the essence of the self.”

Awakening the Power of the Mind

The mind can be reawakened through spiritual discipline and supreme peace practices:

1.     Meditation: Sit in silence daily. Observe your thoughts and affirm — “I am not the mind; I am the soul.”

2.     Chanting the Supreme Peace Mantra: Repeat Paramshanti — the vibration that connects the mind with Brahman.

3.     Positive Resolutions: Affirm daily —
“I am a divine soul. I am the child of Brahman. I am light. I am supreme peace.”

4.     Visualization: Close your eyes and imagine your radiant, divine form filled with supreme light.

5.     Satsang: Listen to the discourses of enlightened masters like Bapuji. Repeated listening awakens the dormant divine recordings in your soul.

6.     Discipline and Self-Control: Simplicity in food, speech, and action stabilizes the mind.

7.     Witnessing Attitude (Sakshi Drishta bhav): See thoughts and emotions as waves — you are the ocean beyond them.

8.     Selfless Service (Sankalp seva): Engage in sharing knowledge, vibrations, and peace. Serving others purifies the ego and uplifts consciousness.

 The Ultimate Truth

When the mind merges into the soul, and the soul merges into Brahman, duality ends. The mind that once caused bondage becomes the bridge to liberation. This is what the Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, and Puranas reveal — and what Bapuji emphasizes again and again:“The mind is faster than the universe. If the soul connects its mind with supreme peace, it can transform creation in an instant.”

 The Call for the Youth

To today’s youth: the energy of your mind is the seed of your destiny.Turn away from distractions and connect to your inner divinity. Meditate, imagine positively, and repeat within: “Paramshanti… I am light… I am the Supreme Soul.”This single realization can awaken unimaginable power within you — the power to heal yourself, uplift others, and bring supreme peace to the entire world.
