The Bhadarvi Poonam Mela at Ambaji, in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district, is one of the largest gatherings of faith in western India. Held once a year around the full moon of Bhadrapad, it draws an estimated 25 to 30 lakh devotees from across Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh — all coming for the darshan of Maa Jagdamba.गुजरात के बनासकांठा ज़िले में स्थित अंबाजी का भादरवी पूनम मेला पश्चिम भारत के सबसे बड़े आस्था-समागमों में से एक है। भाद्रपद पूर्णिमा के अवसर पर वर्ष में एक बार लगने वाले इस मेले में गुजरात, राजस्थान और मध्य प्रदेश से अनुमानित 25 से 30 लाख श्रद्धालु माँ जगदंबा के दर्शन के लिए आते हैं।

What makes this mela unique is how people arrive. Nearly everyone — about 99 percent — walks. Families, village groups and devotees pulling decorated raths travel for days along the highways, carried forward by their faith in the Mother. Along the route, seva camps offer food, rest, shelter, medical care and everything a padyatri needs to complete the journey.इस मेले की सबसे बड़ी विशेषता है — पदयात्रा। लगभग 99 प्रतिशत श्रद्धालु पैदल ही आते हैं। परिवार, गाँवों के संघ और सजे हुए रथ लेकर चलते भक्त कई दिनों तक राजमार्गों पर चलते हैं; उन्हें आगे बढ़ाती है माँ के प्रति अटूट श्रद्धा। रास्ते भर लगे सेवा कैंपों में भोजन, विश्राम, रहने की व्यवस्था, स्वास्थ्य जाँच, दवाइयाँ — एक पदयात्री को जो कुछ चाहिए, सब मिलता है।

A river of devoteesश्रद्धालुओं की अविरल धारा

Day and night, the highway to Ambaji becomes a river of devotion. Sanghs with saffron flags held high, families with small children and devotees pulling raths by hand arrived at the camp in wave after wave — and every group was welcomed with the same care.दिन-रात अंबाजी का राजमार्ग आस्था की अविरल धारा बन जाता है। ऊँचे केसरिया ध्वजों वाले संघ, छोटे बच्चों के साथ परिवार और हाथों से रथ खींचते भक्त — एक के बाद एक लहर की तरह कैंप पर पहुँचते रहे, और हर समूह का उसी आदर से स्वागत हुआ।

Jal Seva: water and tea for the walking devoteeजल सेवा: पदयात्रियों के लिए पानी और चाय

Paramshanti — the mission of Vishwa Parivartak Iswariya Vidhyalay — joined this tradition of seva for the first time this year. Our camp on the pilgrim route served drinking water and tea to devotees as they passed, day and night.विश्व परिवर्तक ईश्वरीय विद्यालय के मिशन परमशांति ने इस वर्ष पहली बार सेवा की इस परंपरा में भाग लिया। पदयात्रा मार्ग पर लगे हमारे कैंप में दिन-रात गुज़रते श्रद्धालुओं को पीने का पानी और चाय दी गई।

Volunteers in white stood at the roadside and welcomed every traveller with folded hands — those on foot, those on motorcycles and families in cars.श्वेत वस्त्रों में सेवाधारी सड़क किनारे खड़े होकर हाथ जोड़कर हर यात्री का स्वागत करते रहे — चाहे वह पैदल हो, मोटरसाइकिल पर हो या परिवार के साथ गाड़ी में।

Alongside water for the body, the camp offered Gyan Jal — the water of knowledge. More than 300 books of Bapuji Dashrathbhai Patel, published in 25+ languages, were displayed on a long book wall, and volunteers told every visitor that these books are completely free: never sold, only shared.शरीर के लिए जल के साथ-साथ कैंप में ज्ञान जल की सेवा भी दी गई। बापूजी दशरथभाई पटेल की 25+ भाषाओं में प्रकाशित 300 से अधिक पुस्तकें एक विशाल पुस्तक-दीवार पर प्रदर्शित की गईं, और सेवाधारियों ने हर आगंतुक को बताया कि ये सभी पुस्तकें पूरी तरह निःशुल्क हैं — कभी बेची नहीं जातीं, केवल बाँटी जाती हैं।

Devotees stopped, browsed the covers, asked questions and downloaded the books on their phones then and there — taking home knowledge that guides the Atma towards awakening.श्रद्धालु रुके, पुस्तकों के आवरण देखे, प्रश्न पूछे और वहीं अपने मोबाइल पर पुस्तकें डाउनलोड कीं — ऐसा ज्ञान साथ लेकर गए जो आत्मा को आत्म-जागृति की ओर ले जाता है।

Banners across the camp introduced visitors to Bapuji Dashrathbhai Patel’s YouTube channel — a family of more than 2 crore subscribers, with 6,500+ spiritual videos. Many devotees were surprised to learn that such a vast treasury of spiritual knowledge is open to everyone, free of cost.पूरे कैंप में लगे बैनरों ने आगंतुकों को बापूजी दशरथभाई पटेल के YouTube चैनल से परिचित कराया — 2 करोड़ से अधिक सब्सक्राइबर्स का परिवार और 6,500 से अधिक आध्यात्मिक वीडियो। अनेक श्रद्धालु यह जानकर चकित हुए कि आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान का इतना विशाल भंडार सबके लिए निःशुल्क उपलब्ध है।

The banners also shared the daily Yog Sadhana live meditation conducted by Shri Anant Patel and Smt Sakshi Patel — every morning from 5:30 to 6:30 and every night from 10:00 to 11:00 — so that seekers can continue their practice at home.बैनरों पर श्री अनंत पटेल और श्रीमती साक्षी पटेल द्वारा प्रतिदिन कराए जाने वाले योग साधना लाइव मेडिटेशन की जानकारी भी दी गई — हर सुबह 5:30 से 6:30 और हर रात 10:00 से 11:00 — ताकि साधक घर बैठे भी अपनी साधना जारी रख सकें।

Seva that never pausedसेवा जो कभी नहीं रुकी

The mela runs around the clock, and so did the camp. Devotees walked through the night, and the lights of the Paramshanti camp stayed on for them — water, tea and knowledge, available 24 hours a day.मेला चौबीसों घंटे चलता है, और हमारा कैंप भी। श्रद्धालु रात भर चलते रहे और उनके लिए परमशांति कैंप की रोशनी जलती रही — जल, चाय और ज्ञान, दिन-रात 24 घंटे उपलब्ध।

This was the first time Paramshanti set up a seva camp at Ambaji, and the love of the devotees was deeply moving. Our heartfelt thanks to every volunteer who served with devotion, day and night.
